Wynnie Zhao
Project Manager (Community Climate Adaptation) at the UN Global Compact Network Canada
Wynnie Zhao is a practitioner and researcher passionate about exploring the role of business and economics in creating a sustainable and just world. She is particularly interested the concept of degrowth and ways to create regenerative business models.
Wynnie is the Project Manager of Community Climate Adaptation for the UN Global Compact Network Canada. She is currently leading a multi-year research project focused on identifying and analyzing community-based impacts of corporate climate actions from an equity and intersectional lens.
Wynnie is also currently organizing the Doughnut Economics Collective Toronto (DECTO), a community collective focused on downscaling a “doughnut” economy in Toronto - one that meets the needs of all people within the means of the living planet. DECTO seeks to engage with civil society, local communities, business, and government on ways to drive community-driven and democratic policies, governance and decision-making models, and business design.
Wynnie holds a dual degree in Honours Business Administration and Sustainability Certificate from Ivey Business School and an Honours Specialization in Global Gender Studies from Western University.
