Kroplya
Multidisciplinary artist and curator
Kroplya is a Belarus-born multidisciplinary artist and curator currently based in Tallinn, Estonia. Working with new media, site-specific installations, and text-based art, she examines the intersections of philosophy and socio-political reality, questioning the fractures between these ways of perceiving the world.Â
Kroplya's artistic practice is deeply rooted in the exploration of language — its (im)possibilities as a tool for communication, a mechanism of control, and a potential site for resistance. Her works often serve as platforms for dialogue, addressing themes of identity, political contradictions, and the operations of propaganda. As a Belarusian artist living in exile in the EU, she actively engages with issues of decolonization and protest art in Eastern Europe while also exploring the material and conceptual dimensions of light and sound installations.Â
She is currently pursuing dual Master's degrees in contemporary art and its management. Her academic background informs her critical approach to historical narratives and cultural identity.Â
Throughout her career, Kroplya has participated in numerous international art and research programs, including the experience of international art laboratories and schools in Berlin, Tallinn, Oslo, Prague, Dhaka, Warsaw, Riga, etc. She has also received multiple grants and scholarships, including the Lithuanian State Scholarship for Master’s studies, Estonian Scholarship "Learn and Shine!" for achievements in creativity and academia, as well as personal awards and numerous Erasmus+ and KUNO grants.Â
Her curatorial work is largely focused on the Baltic region and is distinguished by collaborations with institutions such as the Contemporary Art Centre (Å MC; Vilnius, Lithuania), Zuzeum Art Centre (Riga, Latvia), EKA Gallery (Tallinn, Estonia), Estonian Museum of Contemporary Art (EKKM, Tallinn, Estonia) and others. However, her work experience also includes collaboration with such institutions as USI Unesco Chair (Lugano, Switzerland) and OSUN Science Shop (Vienna, Austria), New York Art Forensics (New York, USA), etc.Â
Through her diverse body of work, Kroplya continues to challenge socio-political structures and expand the boundaries of contemporary artistic practice.Â
