Ben Rowswell

Ben Rowswell is Convenor of the Circle for Democratic Solidarity, whose mandate is to

import lessons from other democracies and apply them to Canada. As Ambassador to

Venezuela, Representative of Canada to Kandahar and in other diplomatic roles he

specialized in human rights and democracy promotion. The Circle for Democratic

Solidarity emerged from research he led with Jeremy Kinsman while President of the

Canadian International Council on how democracies can support one another in face of

the global rise in authoritarian politics.
