Nationality is more than culture—it’s restrictions, freedoms, and biases. A passport isn’t just a document but an identity imposed by the state. Even in neutral zones like the Green Border (Zelenka), it dictates access to aid or rejection. Bureaucracy and ideology turn borders into humanitarian traps where the system defines fate, not individual identity.

The works officially selected for the Counterbalance exhibition are presented in partnership with OCAD University and the Delegation of the European Union to Canada.
