Judy Rebick is one of Canada’s best-known feminists. She is the former president of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women and was a spokesperson for the pro-choice campaign that won legal abortion in Canada in the 1980’s. From 2002 until 2010, Judy held the CAW Sam Gindin Chair in Social Justice and Democracy, having been appointed to it upon its creation. She hosted two national TV shows on CBC in the 1990’s and is also the founding publisher of rabble.ca, Canada’s most active independent online news and discussion site. She has a long history of political activism as well, having been a co-founder of the New Politics Initiative, an attempt to transform the NDP in 2001.
Judy has authored several books, including Ten Thousand Roses: Transforming Power: From the Personal to the Political, The Making of a Feminist Revolution and her most recent memoir, Heroes in My Head.
