Garnett Genuis is the Member of Parliament for Sherwood Park—Fort Saskatchewan, and is the Conservative Shadow Minister for International Development and Human Rights. He has been a member of numerous Parliamentary committees, including the Special Committee on Canada-China Relations, the Subcommittee on International Human Rights, and the Foreign Affairs and International Development Committee. Since having been elected to the House of Commons in the 2015 federal election, he has been an ardent advocate for a principled Canadian foreign policy that prioritizes the defense of democracy, fundamental freedoms, pluralism, and universal human rights. His convictions about human rights have been shaped by the experience of his maternal grandmother, a Holocaust survivor.
