Ana Serrano is the President & Vice Chancellor of OCAD University. Formerly the Chief Digital Officer of the Canadian Film Centre and Founder of CFC Media Lab, Serrano has over 20 years experience building award-winning digital products, securing millions of dollars of investment for innovation programs from
both the public and private sectors, creating global strategic alliances with diverse networks of digital business and creative leaders, and starting new ventures from the ground up,
Alongside this deep experience in digital arts, culture, media and entertainment, Serrano is an active participant and actor in the emerging democracy sector. She is currently the Co-Chair of the Open Democracy Project and Co-Director of DemocracyXChange, and on the board of the Centre for Mindfulness Studies working to increase capacity for mental wellness in various communities including the social service sector.
Serrano has received numerous awards from the digital media, film, and theatre industries in both Canada and the U.S., including a including a Digital Media Trailblazing Award in 2015 from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, a Best Canadian Feature Film Award from the International Reel Asian Film Festival for her own transmedia production Prison Dancer: the Musical, and a Jim Blackaby Ingenuity Award for Body/Mind/Change.
In 2018, Ana received the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) from the French government.
She is an active board member of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, an Executive Member of the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) which presents the Webbys, and frequently speaks at digital media and film festivals around the world about the creation and business of digital entertainment.
