Seher Shafiq

Seher is a national civic leader with over 10 years of experience working on some of Canada's most pressing civic challenges. Seher is also an experienced writer, speaker, and consultant whose commentary has been featured in radio, print, and TV with CBC, TVO, Global News, CTV CP24, Toronto Star, Al Jazeera, and more.
Currently, Seher works for the Mozilla Foundation (the non-profit behind Firefox) where she runs a global program on ethical and trustworthy AI.
Seher’s civic experience includes: leading North York Community House’s national Active Citizenship project which co-designed civic programming for settlement agencies across Canada, leading a 2019 national non-partisan voter engagement campaign for community-based organizations across Canada via TMU’s Democratic Engagement Exchange, and being a founding member, board member, and strategic advisor of The Canadian-Muslim Vote from 2015-19.
Seher also has experience working in the immigration sector at Lifeline Syria, as well as at the UN in Geneva, Switzerland.
